Tottenham Hotspur have focused on outgoings in recent weeks as they aim to fine-tune their squad.
Several young players have been sold or sent out on loan in search of regular game time, with Ashley Phillips and Will Lankshear moving to Middlesbrough permanently, while Mason Melia has been loaned out to Lincoln City.
The headline departures of the summer have been Cristian Romero and Djed Spence, while Guglielmo Vicario has joined Juventus on an initial loan deal.
And now, it appears as if another important member of the first team squad could be on his way out of the club.
Tottenham tell Pape Sarr he can leave
Sacha Tavolieri reports that Tottenham have told Pape Sarr he can leave amid interest from Galatasaray.
He wrote on X: “Tottenham Hotspur have informed Pape Matar Sarr that he is on the transfer market.
“An invitation to leave the club that did not go down well with the Senegalese midfielder, which is why he deleted all his posts related to the club from social media.
“Talks with Galatasaray are continuing. More to follow.”
Yesterday, De Zerbi also cast doubts on Sarr’s future at the club, raising speculation over a potential transfer.
“For Pape, he started pre-season late because he stayed in Senegal until the first week in August, I think.
“He’s a good player. I don’t know if he stays or not; we have to analyse the situation, but he is another very, very important player.”
Judging by Sacha’s reporting and De Zerbi’s comments, it looks like Tottenham will only part with Sarr if they get a sizable offer for him. In other words, they aren’t desperate to offload him, which makes sense as we can’t see him playing regularly this season.
However, the Senegalese midfielder’s decision to delete everything related to Tottenham from his Instagram account is a little childish, for lack of a better word.
We’ve never been fans of seeing footballers – or any grown adult in the public eye – take to social media to send a pointed message.
