Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Savinho began over a year ago, but it appears as if it’s coming to an end soon.
Various sources have confirmed that the Brazilian international will sign for the club this week after agreeing personal terms last month.
Even if the transfer is confirmed before the game against Brentford tomorrow, Savinho will not have been registered on time to feature against the Bees.
And despite the transfer being at such an advanced stage, Roberto De Zerbi kept his cards close to his chest when asked about his potential arrival.
De Zerbi refuses to confirm Savinho to Tottenham
In his pre-match press conference, De Zerbi was asked directly if Savinho to Tottenham is happening, to which he gave a rather diplomatic response.
“It’s not right to speak about the players until they are official. Just to say, I’m very happy,” said the Italian.
“We have not finished yet in the transfer market. It’s an important part, I think. Because so far we have had a great summer of signings. Great players, great behaviour, great spirit, great personality.
“But you know better than me in the Premier League, you don’t win the game with the names, with the big players.
“There are a lot of examples in the last years in the Premier League. We have to deserve to win the game. And to deserve to win the game, we have to reach a high level in character, in passion, in value and in the style of play as well.”
Tottenham are also in talks to sign Omar Marmoush from Manchester City to bolster their attack and could add another player up front before the transfer window slams shut.
