Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Savinho has taken another significant turn, with Manchester City now discussing a potential £85million sale of the Brazilian winger.
Spurs have chased Savinho throughout the summer as Roberto De Zerbi looks to add another high-level attacker before the transfer window closes.
Reports from Brazil previously claimed Tottenham had submitted an £85m offer for the 22-year-old, but fresh information from England has now provided further clarity over the figures involved.
Tottenham and Man City in £85m Savinho talks
According to The Times, Manchester City are in talks with Tottenham over the potential sale of Savinho for £85m.
That is a substantial increase on the £60m to £65m figures mentioned earlier in the summer and suggests Spurs will have to make Savinho one of the biggest investments of their window if they want to complete the deal.
The development is particularly notable after Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte reported last week that Tottenham had already submitted an offer worth £85m.
There now appears to be agreement across separate reports over the sort of package required to take the winger away from the Etihad Stadium.
Savinho remains a major part of Tottenham’s attacking plans. Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Spurs want to sign Savinho, Cody Gakpo and another central striker before the window closes.
Manchester City would also look for another winger should Savinho depart, according to The Times, which adds another moving part to negotiations.
For Tottenham, the decision is increasingly becoming a financial one. Savinho has been a long-term target, but an £85m package would represent another enormous commitment after an already expensive summer in North London.
The positive is that talks remain alive. Tottenham now appear to know exactly what level will be required to get one of De Zerbi’s priority attacking targets through the door.
