David Ornstein’s latest update is actually a massive blow for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur are still in the process of fine-tuning their squad in the summer transfer window.

Roberto De Zerbi has splashed the cash on six new signings and a few more are expected to follow.

However, in terms of sales, they have been active too, which has helped raise funds and squad space for new arrivals.

Cristian Romero and Djed Spence have been notable departures in recent days, while Guglielmo Vicario was also expected to follow suit.

However, it looks like Juventus will no longer make a move to sign the Italian goalkeeper.

Vicario not leaving Tottenham for now

The merry-go-round regarding goalkeepers is proving to be an interesting one.

According to David Ornstein, Juventus have now made an offer for Emi Martinez, who is expected to leave Aston Villa.

The Villains are in talks to sign Zion Suzuki from Parma, so the deal makes sense for all parties involved.

Ornstein wrote on X: “EXCL: Aston Villa receive fresh bid from Juventus for Emiliano Martinez & gap between valuations now narrowing.

“Juve willing to pay up to €10m (€7+3m) – #AVFC want €10m fixed. Personal terms for 33yo goalkeeper no issue.”

Now, what does this mean for Tottenham? It means Juventus – who were favourites to sign Vicario – will no longer make a move for him if they sign Martinez.

And the Italian has already said he wants to leave Tottenham this summer, while he has also lost his place to Antonin Kinsky.

It’ll be interesting to see if other suitors emerge, but Vicario is certainly not heading to Turin, at least for the time being.
