Injuries have been the only constant for Tottenham Hotspur over the past 12 months or so.
Everyone knows the list of players who have been out for the long haul in that period, so we aren’t going to remind people again.
However, since Roberto De Zerbi took over, the tide seems to be changing as a handful of players have returned or been on the comeback trail, at the very least.
However, Alasdair Gold’s injury report on Destiny Udogie doesn’t make for good reading.
Destiny Udogie’s Tottenham injury return date unknown
Gold wrote on Football London: “Destiny Udogie is yet to appear in pre-season so far and that will be a concern for the left-back, who has been dogged by injuries since arriving at Spurs a couple of years ago.
“De Zerbi admitted early in the tour that the 23-year-old had, like Maddison, felt a small problem during pre-season but did not seem unduly concerned.
“However, we are now in mid-August and Udogie is yet to appear in training footage coming out of the club. If he is not involved against Hoffenheim this weekend, then it could be some time before he returns to action.
“With Andy Robertson getting plenty of minutes and Souza around as a back-up, Spurs can afford for Udogie to take his time but that might not do the Italian any favours in the pecking order.
“Return date: Potentially within the next eight days judging by De Zerbi’s lack of concern.”
It remains to be seen if Udogie features vs Hoffenheim, but his injury issues are becoming a massive problem for Tottenham.
Thankfully, the Lilywhites have Andy Robertson, Ben Davies and Souza to call upon if he’s injured, with the Scotsman expected to start their Premier League season opener vs Brentford.
