Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of an attacker has been the most frustrating aspect of their summer transfer window so far.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been linked with a host of players, but they are set to be headed elsewhere or not available for transfer.
Tottenham remain locked in talks for Savinho, who was left out of Manchester City training yesterday.
Earlier in the summer, they were also linked with a move for Said El Mala but didn’t press ahead with their interest as Borussia Dortmund emerged as favourites.
And now, it appears as if the Bundesliga side have temporarily pulled out of the race to sign the German attacker.
Tottenham get Said El Mala boost
Florian Plettenburg wrote on X: “BREAKING | Borussia Dortmund have temporarily pulled out of the race for Said El Mala.
“1. FC Köln have not accepted BVB’s latest offer. Köln are demanding €50m guaranteed.
“Deal currently off. Both sides are trying to stand their ground. Dortmund are frustrated with Köln, while Köln insist on a “5” as the first digit of the guaranteed fee, with only a few instalments.
“Let’s see what happens between now and Deadline Day.”
Tottenham previously wanted the player, and with Dortmund now out of the running, it remains to be seen if they return to the table.
