Yesterday, various reports suggested that Tottenham Hotspur made a massive breakthrough in their pursuit of Savinho.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to North London for well over a year now and informed Manchester City earlier this summer that he wanted to leave.
Savinho missed training yesterday due to an illness, but there was a lot of speculation that his absence was transfer-related.
And later in the day, reports from Brazil claimed Tottenham had made their first official bid for Savinho, so a transfer seemed to be developing.
But now, Enzo Maresca has doubled down on claims that the Brazilian was indeed sick, which is not what the Tottenham faithful wanted to hear.

“Savio was not part of the session on Thursday; he was a little bit ill,” said Maresca at a press conference.
“We’ll see today, the session is in the afternoon. We’ll see and we’ll decide for tomorrow’s game.”
Now, we didn’t expect the Manchester City boss to come out and openly admit that his player wasn’t risked because he is being linked with a transfer.
However, Maresca’s comments prove the transfer isn’t imminent, which is what a lot of Tottenham fans were led to believe yesterday.
This has been a frustrating transfer saga for everyone involved and the sooner it is resolved, the better.
