Tottenham Hotspur have had some notable departures this summer and could be set to confirm another one shortly.
In recent weeks, Cristian Romero has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.
Inter Milan led the race initially and the likes of Barcelona and Arsenal declared an interest, but there was an expectation that the Argentine would head to the Spanish capital.
That is exactly how it has panned out, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that his move to Atletico Madrid is now set to happen.
Cristian Romero to finally leave Tottenham
Tottenham fans have known for a while now that their captain would leave, but now, his destination has also been confirmed.
Romano wrote on X: “BREAKING: Cristian Romero to Atlético Madrid, HERE WE GO! Agreement in place between clubs with Tottenham at a €40m package, add-ons included.
“Inter deal off in July, Barcelona decided not to proceed days ago, Spurs were never gonna sell to Arsenal. Atléti: done.”
Tottenham fans will breathe a sigh of relief as the transfer saga is finally over. And in terms of his replacements, the likes of Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke have already joined the club, so they are well covered in that regard.
