Tottenham Hotspur were handed a massive boost yesterday as Micky van de Ven put pen to paper on a new contract.
Before Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival, it looked like the Dutch international would leave the club this summer as his form suffered during the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
However, the Italian’s arrival has led to a chance of heart as he signed a long-term deal that only expires in the summer of 2029.
And in doing so, he becomes one of the highest-paid players at the club currently.
Micky Van de Ven’s Tottenham wages revealed
“It’s a special moment to sign a new deal and a proud moment for me and my family,” Van de Ven told club media yesterday.
“I’ve always loved Spurs, from the first day I stepped in here. I love the club, I love the fans and I’ve developed really well here.
“It’s clear the direction the club wants to go in, and I want to be a part of it. I’m excited about what’s to come.”
And, as revealed by Mike Verweij of de Telegraaf, the Dutchman will earn in excess of £240,000 per week, which is undoubtedly a sizable increase from his previous contract.
Regardless of the figures involved, Tottenham simply had to keep Van de Ven this summer and they’ve done just that. And who knows, with Cristian Romero set to leave, one of him or James Maddison could well get the captain’s armband.
