Tottenham Hotspur’s search for an attacker is proving to be rather frustrating.
They have been linked with a host of players like Ferran Torres, Savinho, Eli Junior Kroupi and Cody Gakpo, although nothing has materialised yet.
Spurs’ pursuit of Savinho stretches back to last summer, but Pep Guardiola didn’t sanction a move for him then.
Now, however, new manager Enzo Maresca admits he could be on the move this summer amid interest from Tottenham.
Maresca admits Savinho could leave
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Manchester City’s pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid, Maresca made a brutally honest claim on Savinho’s future.
“As long as Savio is here, we’re going to try to do our best to help him,” said the Italian.
“With the transfer window open, anything can happen.”
Savinho is valued at £65m and so far, Tottenham have been unwilling to match that fee.
With time running out to sign an attacker before their season opener vs Brentford, it remains to be seen if they bite the bullet and make an official offer.
Maresca, for his part, has opened the doors to his departure with his comments, but City are standing their ground in terms of his asking price.
