Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a handful of outgoings in recent weeks, but their biggest departure yet has edged closer to being confirmed.
Cristian Romero has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in recent weeks. The Argentine looked set for a move to Serie A, but Diego Simeone’s side made an eleventh-hour hijack and are now favourites.
Roberto De Zerbi confirmed last month that Romero asked to leave, indicating that he will get his wish.
And now, reports from Spain confirm that the Tottenham captain now has a total agreement with Atleti.
Cristian Romero reaches total agreement with Atletico Madrid
Matteo Moretto of Marca says the Argentine and Atleti have a total agreement, which is proof that personal terms have been agreed.
However, the two sides are yet to agree a fee, which shouldn’t be a problem as Atletico know exactly how much to pay after Inter agreed a deal worth €40m.
“Atlético Madrid has reached a total agreement with Cuti Romero and is awaiting to finalize the details with Tottenham,” wrote Moretto on X.
The transfer saga involving Romero has dragged on for far too long, so let’s hope Atleti and Tottenham agree a fee asap to finalise his transfer.
Not long left now, by the looks of it.
