There’s been an ocean of change at Tottenham Hotspur since Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival.
The Italian spent a combined fee of nearly £200m to snap up Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes as the Lilywhites were crying out for quality in the centre of the park.
That has put a handful of Tottenham players in a precarious position. Yves Bissouma was allowed to leave after his contract expired, but a few others could also move on in search of game time this summer.
And reports from Turkey link Conor Gallagher with a transfer to Besiktas in what they have described as a ‘surprise’ move.
Conor Gallagher linked with Tottenham departure
According to Sözcü Gazetesi, Besiktas want to sign the England international on loan as manager Vincenzo Italiano is keen to bolster his ranks in the centre of the park.
The report mentions that an offer has been made for Gallagher, although it is unclear as to whether they have made a proposal to the player himself, or to Tottenham.
Gallagher only joined the club earlier this year for £34m and has featured regularly under De Zerbi while also being singled out for special praise by the Italian a handful of times.
That said, Tottenham only have the domestic competitions to cater to next season, so the Italian is unlikely to rotate his squad as much, which could affect his game time.
We can’t see Tottenham sanctioning a loan move, but if Besiktas or someone else pays a ridiculous fee, Gallagher could be on his way out of the club.
But at this point in time, everything points to him staying and playing a key role under De Zerbi.
