Towards the back end of last season, it looked like Micky van de Ven would leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
The Lilywhites looked destined for the drop and their brand of football was terrible under Igor Tudor and Thomas Frank.
However, Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival has breathed new life into Tottenham, which has also had an effect on the Dutchman’s future and the club’s fortunes.
And now, Ben Jacobs reports that Van de Ven is in talks to sign a new contract at the club.
Micky van de Ven set for new Tottenham contract
Since joining the club in 2023, Van de Ven has been a key player but his form dipped a bit during the 2025-26 campaign.
However, he is a key player under De Zerbi and appears set to commit his future to Tottenham.
“Micky Van de Ven is in talks with Spurs to sign a new contract,” wrote Jacobs on X.
“Discussions have been positive. An agreement is getting closer, although nothing is done yet.”
With Cristian Romero set to leave, Van de Ven is one of the candidates to take over as club captain, with James Maddison and Pedro Porro also believed to be under consideration.
