Tottenham Hotspur have pulled no punches this summer after narrowly avoiding relegation at the back end of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have already snapped up Jan Paul van Hecke, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes for a combined £237m, while the likes of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka have joined on free transfers.
In terms of outgoings, Luka Vuskovic sealed a surprise move to Brighton and Will Lankshear is on his way to Middlesbrough, which will bring their net spend down a little bit.
However, De Zerbi’s recent comments, coupled with an intriguing report from England, signify that there is a lot more to come between now and the end of the transfer window.
Tottenham’s spending spree not finished
The aforementioned names undoubtedly add a lot of quality and experience to their squad, something they lacked last season, largely due to injuries.
And now, a report from Tottenham insider Paul O’Keefe claims that the Lilywhites are currently focused on sales to free up funds and space in their squad.
Once that is out of the way, they are expected to attack the transfer market once again.
Another factor worth noting is that they have 21 non-homegrown players over the age of 21, when they are only allowed to have 17. They also have eight homegrown players over the age of 21.
That means that Spurs currently have 29 senior players in total when they can only register 25.
In terms of outgoings, Vuskovic’s sale was the biggest, while the likes of Alejo Veliz, Alfie Devine, Radu Dragusin and Yves Bissouma have already departed the club permanently or on loan.
Lankshear’s departure to Boro for a fee believed to be in the region of £20m, including add-ons, is also set to be confirmed imminently, which will bring their net spend down further.
O’Keefe’s report, however, is the biggest talking point here as it effectively confirms that they still have money to spend.
De Zerbi’s claim on Tottenham transfers will excite fans
De Zerbi has been speaking to the media and made a candid claim on transfers earlier today.
“We are excited with the idea to build a very strong team. Now we have to finish it, it’s not finished yet.
“Our transfer market, in and out, at the moment, I am very happy, proud, and positive.
“Tottenham deserves to compete for the top of the Premier League.”
The boss has made his feelings very, very clear and the club have backed him massively to get the players he wanted.
And judging by his comments, there is still more to come, so the current window could go down in history as one of the best in the club’s history.
