At a glance:
- Tottenham want Tarik Muharemovic
- His agent was in London recently
- Inter Milan also in the hunt
Tottenham are already making plans to rejig their squad in the summer transfer window under Roberto De Zerbi.
Corriere dello Sport report that Tarik Muharemovic has emerged as a big topic of discussion for the North London club.
De Zerbi’s backline will need a bit of work this summer, especially if key players like Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven decide to move on.
And if reports from Italy are to be believed, Tottenham are really serious about snapping up Muharemovic.
Sassuolo CEO in London for Muharemovic talks
Romero has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, while Van de Ven has yet to commit his long-term future to Tottenham.
Earlier this year, we reported on Read Tottenham that Spurs are keeping an eye on Muharemovic.
And now, reports from Italy add value to those claims. They add that Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali was recently in London, potentially to drive up interest in the player.
Inter Milan are also keen to bolster their ranks defensively after recently sealing the Serie A title under Cristian Chivu.
He has been described as a consistent player by Transfermarkt’s Serie A expert Stefano Bounfino, who said: “He confirmed this in Serie A, even against top clubs and great strikers.
“He made a few mistakes, but this is understandable for a centre-back of this age playing for a newly promoted team.
“He has found great consistency and his place in the starting lineup has never been questioned.”
Muharemovic-Tottenham links make sense
Muharemovic is valued at around £26m, which would be a fair price for a central defender of his quality.
He has impressed for Sassuolo this season and also played a big role in Bosnia’s road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he is expected to play a big role.
Additionally, due to his previous stint with Sassuolo as manager, De Zerbi may know a handful of people within the club, so he could well pick up the phone and ask for a reference or two.
Muharemovic is expected to be on the move this summer and won’t be at Sassuolo for too long. However, with the World Cup on the horizon and Inter Milan also monitoring the defender, Tottenham have to move quickly to secure his signature.
