At a glance:
- Tottenham keeping tabs on Lucas Ronier
- Winger currently plays for Coritiba
- Spurs missed out on Rayan in January
Tottenham are already making plans to shore up their ranks in the upcoming summer transfer window.
As things stand, they are likely to avoid relegation as they are two points above 18th-placed West Ham United.
A lot of their transfer business will hinge on whether or not they avoid relegation, with the situation expected to become clearer in the upcoming weeks.
And now, after missing out on Rayan to Bournemouth in January, they are keeping tabs on another winger from Brazil.
Tottenham watching Lucas Ronier
In January, Tottenham sold Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace and failed to replace him. To make matters worse, Mohammed Kudus suffered a long-term injury, which further depleted their attacking options.
Rayan was high up on Tottenham’s list, but the Brazilian moved to Bournemouth as the North London outfit didn’t launch a move for him.
Earlier today, Jermain Defoe likened Rayan to Gareth Bale, which is a sign that Tottenham have missed out on an unbelievable talent.
However, it looks like they are now trying to make amends for their transfer gaffe.

According to Sport Witness, Tottenham are keeping tabs on Lucas Ronier, who plies his trade for Coritiba in Brasileirao.
The young attacker is predominantly a right winger but tends to drift into central areas to affect the game creatively.
The report also mentions interest from Fulham, with the 21-year-old’s skill set valued highly by the two Premier League clubs.
Ronier has already rejected a big offer from Saudi. However, with Tottenham and Fulham interested, a move to the Premier League could be on his agenda.
Tottenham’s youth strategy to continue
Over the past few transfer windows, Tottenham’s recruitment has been a mixed bag, to say the least.

However, they have signed a handful of unbelievably talented young players like Archie Gray, Antonin Kinsky, Lucas Bergvall, Luka Vuskovic, with new signing Souza also held in high regard by everyone at the club.
Their reported interest in Ronier is proof that their strategy is set to continue under Roberto De Zerbi.
It goes without saying that the Italian needs bonafide game changers to breathe new life into his squad.
However, Tottenham also need to sign a rough diamond or two as they won’t have the resources to splash the cash in the summer.
Could Ronier’s potential arrival soften the blow of missing out on Rayan? Time will tell.
