At a glance:
- Tottenham interested in LaLiga attacker
- They are willing to pay £26m for him
- Spurs could overhaul their striking department
Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a major attacking overhaul this summer after they struggled in the 2025-26 campaign.
Spurs have scored just 45 goals in 35 Premier League games. They have needed the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Joao Palhinha to score some spectacular goals at crucial times.
Injuries and Thomas Frank’s defensive setup did play a big role in their attacking struggles. However, some of Tottenham’s attackers have also disappointed this season, and hence, they are looking for a rebuild.
Tottenham interested in signing Karl Etta Eyong
Spurs currently have three strikers in their ranks: Dominic Solanke, Richarlison, and Randal Kolo Muani. However, Richarlison has been linked with a return to Everton this summer. Kolo Muani is expected to return to PSG after his loan spell, while Solanke has also been linked with an exit.
According to TeamTALK, Spurs are eyeing Karl Etta Eyong as a replacement striker this summer. The 22-year-old striker has impressed during his time at Levante, recording seven goals and four assists in 32 games this season.
Last year, former Cameroon head coach Marc Brys even likened him to Lamine Yamal, telling Mundo Deportivo:
“I think so, given his potential. There’s always room for a new player on a team if they have the right qualities.
“Look at Lamine Yamal: a year ago, nobody thought he’d be playing for the first team, and now he’s a key player. Etta has that potential too. He’s dangerous, unpredictable, and can surprise anyone. And that’s valuable for any top team.”

Etta Eyong came through Cadiz’s academy before joining Villarreal, and then moved to Levante last summer. His contract expires in 2029, but it includes a £26 million release clause that Tottenham are willing to trigger.
Tottenham need more experience with Etta Eyong
The Cameroonian striker has great physicality, a good striking ability, and an intelligent playing style.
According to the aforementioned report, Roberto De Zerbi believes he could be a good fit for his system. However, he is still just 22, and a potential move to the Premier League could be daunting.
Moreover, if Tottenham are letting go of all three of their strikers, they need much more than just Etta Eyong.
They need to sign experienced strikers who can provide a consistent goalscoring threat. They ideally need someone with Premier League or European football experience.

Spurs cannot make the same mistake of depending on just young players in a single position. It not only leads to inconsistent performances but also stalls the development of these players, like Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall.
Tottenham also have many young strikers like Will Lankshear and Dane Scarlett. Hence, they need to sign an experienced striker, along with Etta Eyong.
