At a glance:
- Tottenham barely have any POTS contenders
- Richarlison is their top scorer
- Rodrigo Bentancur has an incredible stat
Tottenham Hotspur have had a terrible 2025-26 campaign, as they are still unsure about their Premier League status with three games remaining.
They won the UEFA Europa League last season, ending their 17-year trophy drought. However, this season, they were eliminated early from all cup competitions and are still struggling in the Premier League.
The north London side are just one point above the drop zone with three games remaining. Hence, it appears a futile activity to be handing out the Player of the Season awards this year.
Who can realistically win Tottenham’s Player of the Season award?
Lucas Bergvall swept all three of Tottenham’s fan-voted awards for the last season, in what was his debut campaign at the club. The likes of Cristian Romero, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski were also strong contenders.
This season, though, it is tough to find the rightful recipient of the awards. However, some players have stood out more than others even in this tough season. Let’s take a look at three of them:
3. Archie Gray
Archie Gray has been sidelined since Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival at Tottenham. However, one cannot question his contributions to the team this season. He has again spent a season playing in multiple positions.
However, Gray was one of the few positive lights, even under Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor. The 20-year-old has made 34 appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Before they beat Wolves on April 25, Spurs’ last league win came against Crystal Palace on December 28, with Gray scoring the winning goal.
2. Rodrigo Bentancur
There were big calls to sell Rodrigo Bentancur under Thomas Frank earlier this season. However, De Zerbi’s arrival has shown that the Uruguayan’s poor performances had more to do with the Danish coach than with his ability.
Bentancur has been exceptional under the Italian head coach, arguably being Tottenham’s best player. He has shown composure on the ball, awareness and tackling off the ball, and real leadership on the pitch.
Moreover, Bentancur’s impact can be measured by a major stat. They have garnered 1.35 ppg with him in the Premier League and just 0.5 without him this season.

1. Richarlison
Perhaps not many would consider Richarlison to be in the race for this award. However, in many ways, he should be the frontrunner for it.
The Brazilian is Tottenham’s top scorer this season with 11 goals and five assists in 40 games across competitions, despite barely getting any chances. He has scored a bicycle kick and also a goal from the halfway line. His work rate is never in question either.
Moreover, it was Richarlison’s goal against Liverpool that started the little resurgence Spurs have had in the relegation battle.

Overall, no Tottenham player has been able to prove their mettle this season due to multiple factors. While some have shown glimpses, others have largely disappointed under Thomas Frank.
However, if Spurs avoid relegation, Richarlison, Bentancur, and Gray would have had a big impact on that.
