At a glance:
- Tottenham are going through an injury crisis
- Luka Vuskovic returned for Hamburg on Saturday
- Micky van de Ven reacted to the youngster’s post
Tottenham Hotspur have found themselves in the middle of a major injury crisis for the second consecutive season.
With just four games remaining, Spurs are missing key players for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, the likes of Dominic Solanke and James Maddison are still recovering from their injuries.
The Tottenham injury crisis also extends to their players on loan. The likes of George Abbott and Luka Vuskovic have all sustained injuries this season.
Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic returned to action this weekend
Vuskovic has had a stellar loan spell at HSV Hamburg this season. He has helped the newly promoted side secure their place in the Bundesliga for another season.
However, Vuskovic suffered a “severe” knee injury last month. He missed three games for Hamburg, all of which resulted in defeats, with the German side conceding nine goals. They also faced a minor risk of getting dragged into the relegation battle.
However, the Tottenham loanee returned to action from the bench in their clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. He came off in the 78th minute and helped Hamburg secure a 2-1 win. They now sit 11th in the Bundesliga standings.
After the game, Vuskovic shared a post on Instagram with pictures from the game and wrote in the caption:
“Great feeling to be back and be able to help secure this big away win @hsv 💙🤍🖤”

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven reacted to this post, commenting with a fire emoji. Former Spurs icon Luka Modric also liked the post.

Spurs will now hope that Vuskovic can complete the season without any injury issues and return to them in the summer.
Van de Ven might not play with Vuskovic at Tottenham
Spurs announced Vuskovic’s signing from Hajduk Split in 2024, but he only joined them last summer after turning 18.
He made a few friendly appearances in pre-season before going on loan at Hamburg. He has made 28 appearances for them and also recorded five goals and one assist.
Vuskovic is one of the most highly rated young players in the world, and Tottenham will look to build their defense around him.
However, the 19-year-old might not play with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero at Spurs.
Van de Ven has been linked with a Tottenham exit this summer and is likely to move on after three seasons in North London.

The likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Barcelona are all interested in the Dutch centre-back.
Regardless of whether Spurs stay in the Premier League, he is expected to leave. Hence, Tottenham might never get to field a centre-back partnership of Vuskovic and Van de Ven.
