- De Zerbi says Tottenham can still stay up
It’s safe to say Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival has breathed new life into Tottenham.
They looked over and out under Igor Tudor, who left the club by mutual consent after just 44 days.
Under the Italian, they have secured four points out of a possible nine. And while that isn’t the best return, De Zerbi has got the players and the fans together again.
The performance against Wolves was hardly spectacular, but they did secure three points away from home.
And now, ahead of the game against Aston Villa, the Italian has set off on a rather astonishing rant in his pre-match press conference.
De Zerbi hits out at Tottenham crybabies
In recent weeks, factors such as Tottenham’s retractable pitch and their medical staff have been blamed for their torrid luck with injuries.
And De Zerbi feels everyone associated with the club needs to put away their negative thoughts and fight to beat the drop.

“Listen, I want to be clear one time,” began the Italian.
“The most important challenge now is to silence the voice inside of us, inside of the players, the staff, the fans.
“This voice produces negative thoughts, and the voice says we are unlucky, we have too many injuries. We lost Xavi Simons and he was one of the most important players for us in the past two games.
“Our medical staff is not good enough, our stadium pitch is not good enough, our training pitch is not good enough.
“Winning two or three games in a row, not because we hadn’t won a game in 2026. It’s all negative things and it’s rubbish.
“I want to keep the focus on myself and the quality of my players. We go to play one of the best teams in the Premier League at the moment, but if Tottenham win at Villa Park, it’s not a miracle.

“Maybe we lose, but we have the quality to win this game. We have to be positive because we are lucky to work in a big club.”
Tottenham will be without Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke, but they still have Mathys Tel, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani in attack.
De Zerbi’s comments prove that he’s been following what’s been written about the club in the media. And judging by his tone, he seems confident that Tottenham will stay up.
Let’s hope the boss is right.
