At a glance:
- Juventus to submit offer for Marcos Senesi
- Defender has verbal agreement with Tottenham
- Deal hinges on Premier League safety
Marcos Senesi has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham in recent months as Roberto De Zerbi prepares to fine-tune his squad in the summer.
The Italian signed a five-year deal without a relegation clause, so he will remain at the club next season regardless of where they finish.
Senesi has a verbal agreement to join Tottenham as he prepares to leave Bournemouth on a free transfer after three successful seasons.
And now, reports from Italy have thrown a spanner into the works of De Zerbi’s transfer plans.
Juventus want Marcos Senesi
Earlier this week, we reported Liverpool’s interest in Senesi, with the Reds also on the lookout for a central defender as Ibrahima Konate is yet to sign a new contract officially.
And now, Tutto Juve report that the Serie A giants have positioned themselves for the defender, whose agreement with Tottenham isn’t set in stone.
Juventus are set to submit an offer for Senesi in the ‘coming hours,’ a strong sign that they are serious about the player.
Tottenham’s Premier League status is currently hanging by a thread, so the Argentine will look to carefully consider all his options before making a decision.
Mirko di Natale, the journalist who broke the story, also claims that Senesi and Juventus are in contact, which is further bad news for Tottenham.
Tottenham need Senesi at all costs
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are likely to leave Tottenham this summer, while Radu Dragusin is wanted by Fiorentina.
If the aforementioned players secure exits, the North London outfit will have a massive hole at the back.
Luka Vuskovic’s return could help, but the Croatian’s future isn’t set in stone either, as he has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world.

A player like Senesi on a free transfer is worth his weight in gold and Tottenham have already done a lot of hard work to get him to agree a deal in principle.
If they play out of their skins and avoid relegation, it remains likely the Argentine will make a move to N17.
However, that is a big if, as Tottenham are currently in the relegation zone, two points behind 17th-placed West Ham United.
