At a glance:

- Italian’s payoff if sacked emerges
- De Zerbi doesn’t have relegation clause
Roberto De Zerbi has breathed new life into Tottenham since his arrival, but they are still in the Premier League relegation zone.
The Italian has won four points from his first three games in charge of the club. And while that has clearly helped, the North London outfit are still two points behind 17th-placed West Ham United.
Tottenham have just four games to save themselves from relegation.
And now, to make matters worse, a bizarre claim has emerged on the Italian’s potential departure.
De Zerbi’s Tottenham payoff emerges
De Zerbi signed a five-year deal at Tottenham without a relegation clause.
In fact, in his first press conference as manager, he said he would remain at the club even if they dropped down to the Championship.

Nonetheless, Tottenham Hotspur News have published a rather amusing story.
They claim that the North London outfit would have secured their safety by agreeing on an exit clause, suggesting that the Italian would get six months’ worth of wages if he leaves the club in the future.
They also have quotes from Bryan King, who is the Tottenham insider in question.
“He’s signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, so I bet there’s a pre-nuptial agreement in there somewhere.
“I have no idea why they’ve put it in on such a long deal. He’s probably earning about £50million across his contract, plus whatever bonuses come with that.
“He’ll get over £1m for keeping them up. If I were Tottenham, there would be no way that if things went pear-shaped, I’d give him five years’ money.
“They’ve already paid Postecoglou and Frank off, and yet they carry on. I’d say he’ll only get six months’ worth if things don’t go well and he’s sacked.”
Too much guesswork
As we mentioned earlier, De Zerbi himself clarified earlier this month that he will remain at the club regardless of what happens this season.

After chopping and changing managers for fun in recent years, Tottenham are planning for the long haul with the Italian.
At this stage of the season, it makes no sense to discuss matters like this, especially when we’ve already heard it from the horse’s mouth.
For the sake of everyone associated with Tottenham, let’s just hope they avoid relegation so that discussions like this won’t have to be entertained in the first place.
