Xavi Simons injury update immediately after injury substitution for Tottenham vs Wolves

At a glance:

  • Xavi Simons subbed off
  • Potential knee injury
  • Dominic Solanke also injured

It’s proving to be another frustrating game in the Premier League for Tottenham as they continue to play out a 0-0 draw against Wolves at Molineux.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side didn’t really fare well in the first half. To make matters worse, Dominic Solanke was subbed off with a hamstring injury, with Richarlison replacing him.

West Ham United are currently 1-0 up against Everton, which is more bad news for Tottenham.

And now, things have seemingly gone from bad to worse after Xavi Simons’ injury.

Simons subbed off for Tottenham

Starting in attack alongside Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani, Simons tried to make things happen in the first half.

The Dutch international was the star of the show for Tottenham as they secured a 2-2 draw against Brighton last week.

However, he suffered an injury blow in the second half as he went down near the corner flag.

The Tottenham medical staff came onto the pitch as he was screaming in pain and tried to get him to run it off.

After one attempt, though, he was subbed off as Lucas Bergvall replaced him. Simons left the pitch on a stretcher, clutching his knee, which is a worrying sign for Tottenham and the Netherlands national team.

And now, Alasdair Gold has provided an injury update on the Dutchman. He wrote on X: “Xavi was getting treatment, tried to run it off on the sideline but has gone down again. Doesn’t look good.”
