- Roberto De Zerbi says he uses YouTube for coaching
- He named another tool to get the best out of players
Tottenham Hotspur appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their third manager this season, as they desperately hope to avoid relegation.
The Italian manager was brought in with the hopes of doing things differently from Thomas Frank and interim manager Igor Tudor. Under Frank, the players’ confidence completely dropped, as he consistently misprofiled them and played terrible football.
Tudor attempted to instill some confidence in the Tottenham players, but eventually failed as well. De Zerbi, meanwhile, has failed to win in his first two games as well, but has clearly shown progress.
De Zerbi explains how YouTube helps him at Tottenham
One of the biggest, if not the biggest, jobs for a head coach is to get the best out of their players. Ange Postecoglou was excellent at that, and De Zerbi is hoping to do it as well at Tottenham.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Wolves, he explained how he uses YouTube for it.
He referenced Randal Kolo Muani, who has been playing on the right wing in recent games, but is mainly a striker. De Zerbi said (h/t Football.London):
“It’s what they have done in their career, also in other clubs. If I play with [Randal] Kolo Muani as a right winger, it’s because he has played in that position.
“If you go to YouTube, and go to Kolo Muani Eintracht Frankfurt, you can see he played very well in that position and scored a lot of goals.”
“When I don’t work in my office, I go to find something important for me to give more information about the players because we have no time and have to consider everything to stay up.
“I use YouTube or Wyscout to find the best solution for the players, not for me.”

De Zerbi has certainly shown improvement in his first two games, especially against Brighton. Tottenham would hope for this to continue in the remaining five games to help them avoid relegation.
Now or never for Tottenham
The north London side will face an already relegated Wolves at Molineux on Saturday. If they are to avoid relegation and secure some wins, it must start now.
Nottingham Forest hammered Sunderland 5-0 on Friday to extend their lead over Spurs to eight points.
Hence, currently, it appears that West Ham and Tottenham are battling for the final relegation spot. The Hammers are two points above and host Everton on Saturday.
While all three teams are still in the danger zone, a defeat against Wolves could almost put it to bed for Spurs.

De Zerbi has shown some improvement, but Spurs now need results. Tottenham players are loving the Italian’s training sessions.
That must now translate on the pitch, or they will be playing in the EFL Championship next season.
