Tottenham have seven games remaining to save their Premier League status for the next season as they sit in the relegation zone.
West Ham hammered Wolves 4-0 at the London Stadium on Friday and jumped two points above Tottenham in 17th. Only a win against Sunderland on Sunday could help Spurs get out of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are level on points with West Ham and face Aston Villa at home.
Amidst this, Jamie Redknapp has expressed his confidence in West Ham staying up over Spurs. He highlighted multiple factors and also labeled Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment a “huge risk”.
Redknapp explains what Tottenham lack in comparison to West Ham
Valentin Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos scored a brace each for West Ham against Wolves. Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen provided two assists, and Crysencio Summerville put in a decent performance.
Redknapp highlighted the latter two and said that West Ham have match-winners, which Tottenham don’t seem to have. He said on Sky Sports:
“You need matchwinners in your team, who’s going to win a game by the scruff of the neck? When I look at the Tottenham team: where’s your matchwinner? Who’s going to win you the game?”
“When I look at Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville, they have moments – that’s the important thing. And that’s now put an almighty pressure on Tottenham Hotspur, who have to go and beat Sunderland in their next game. That’s not an easy fixture.”

Redknapp added that the relegation battle is hard to predict and “anything can happen”. He also said that while Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are better defenders, West Ham’s Mavropanos and Axel Disasi are better suited for a relegation battle.
Tottenham need similar momentum as they gave to West Ham
Incidentally, it was Tottenham who gave West Ham such impetus in the relegation battle. They faced the Hammers, who were winless in their last 10 league games, in January and lost 2-1. Since then, they have managed four wins, three draws, and three defeats.
Even Summerville hadn’t scored a single goal in 21 Premier League games before facing Tottenham. He then scored the winner against Spurs and scored in three consecutive games. He has four goals in his last eight league games.

On the other hand, Tottenham have failed to win a single Premier League game in 13 attempts, with their last win coming on December 28. They have managed just one point in their last seven games. They now arguably need around three wins from their next seven to avoid relegation.
