Roberto De Zerbi’s first game as Tottenham’s manager is on Sunday as they travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland in a crucial Premier League clash.
The Italian put pen to paper on a five-year deal and has had nearly a week to work with his squad due to Spurs’ FA Cup elimination earlier in the season.
In recent days, there was a lot of chatter about De Zerbi’s coaching staff as a handful of big names were linked with the job.
And now, Tottenham have officially confirmed the Italian’s backroom team.
No Sandro but Salter remains at Tottenham
There was a rather outrageous claim from Italy that Alessandro Nesta, who is widely regarded as the greatest defender in the history of football, would be joining Tottenham.
However, after a few hours of intense speculation, it was confirmed that Nesta will not be a part of De Zerbi’s coaching staff.
Similarly, Sandro was linked with a return to Tottenham as he confirmed in a podcast that he would love the chance to return to N17 to work with the Italian.
The Brazilian was spotted in Hotspur Way today, but he, too, will not be part of De Zerbi’s staff.
Tottenham have now confirmed that Bruno Salter – who joined the club alongside Igor Tudor – will remain at the club, with Fabian Otte also set to stay.
Marcattilio Marcattilii, De Zerbi’s confidante since 2015, and Marcello Quinto join as First Team Fitness Coach and Senior Professional Development Phase Coach, respectively.
De Zerbi’s Tottenham coaching staff in full
All the members of the backroom staff have now been confirmed as the Italian aims to get Tottenham their first Premier League win of 2026.
- First Team Fitness Coach: Marcattilio Marcattili
- Professional Development Phase Coach: Marcello Quinto
- First Team Assistant Coach: Bruno Saltor
- First Team Assistant Coach: Andreas Georgson
- Goalkeeper Coach: Fabian Otte
- Individual Development Coach: Cameron Campbell
- Support staff: Dean Brill and Stuart Lewis
De Zerbi’s first Tottenham press conference will be on Friday, where he’s expected to preview the clash against Sunderland and also provide an injury update on a few key players.
Barring a shoulder injury to Pape Sarr, the Lilywhites don’t have any fresh injury concerns, although they could be boosted by the return of Mohammed Kudus.
Despite Tottenham’s current form and league position, for the first time in 2026, there is a renewed sense of faith that the club is headed in the right direction after De Zerbi’s arrival. No pressure, Roberto!
