In recent weeks, Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha.
The German international is enjoying arguably the best season of his professional career under Niko Kovac, establishing himself as an indispensable member of the Dortmund starting XI.
Tottenham hold a significant interest in Nmecha, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
And now, the 25-year-old has done something that could suggest he could be preparing for a big transfer in the summer.
Nmecha changes agents amid increased transfer interest
English clubs know Nmecha well, as he spent eight years at the Manchester City academy before moving to Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.
He has also earned eight caps for the German national team since his 2023 debut.
His elder brother Lucas also plies his trade in England with Leeds United, making a potential switch to the Premier League even more compelling.
According to a report from BILD, Nmecha has joined the agency ‘The Talent Table,’ based in Kington, UK, and run by two English owners.
Usually, when a player changes agents, it is a sign that a big-money move could be on the cards, which is exactly what the German outlet have appeared to suggest in this case.
The report also states that Dortmund will demand at least £61m to part with him in the summer, which would be just shy of the record-breaking £65m fee they shelled out to secure Dominic Solanke in the summer of 2024.
What has Nmecha said about moving to the Premier League?
Nmecha actually faced Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League earlier this year as Dortmund fell to a 2-0 defeat.
The German played it cool ahead of the game, swerving questions about a potential Premier League switch with a typically diplomatic answer.
He said (quotes via BILD): “Whether I want to play in the Premier League or not, I’m not going to say right now.”
Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur have struggled for consistency, while a question mark still hangs over Joao Palhinha’s future beyond his loan from Bayern Munich. As a wonderfully well-rounded powerhouse, Nmecha offers the exact profile Tottenham needs to fix their midfield engine room.
However, the report from BILD also mentions interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, who, unlike Tottenham, could be able to offer European football next season.
Julian Nagelsmann looks increasingly likely to name Nmecha in his Germany squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. If he produces a starring display or two at the tournament, his value could soar, leading to interest from a host of other clubs.
