Kane nominated for FIFA World XI place

Spurs striker Harry Kane is among the nominees for the FIFA FIFPro World XI.

The World XI is an award voted for by professional players, with the best 11 of their peers in a calendar year chosen to attend the ceremony at which the Balon d’Or is also awarded.

Kane is the only Englishman on the 55-strong shortlist for a place in the side and could become the first Tottenham player ever to be voted a winner.

He will be hoping to become the sixth Englishman to receive a place in the World XI, after John Terry (5 times), Steven Gerrard (3 times), Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney (once each).

Former Spurs player Luka Modric has made the XI on two occasions since moving to Real Madrid and is the only Croatian ever to have been voted in.
