Mauricio Pochettino praises Onomah

Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praised on Joshua Onomah, after the academy graduate made his full debut in the 4-1 victory over Monaco in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Onomah, who has made a number of substitute appearances for Tottenham this season, impressed fans and pundits alike in his full debut against Monaco and has been tipped for a start again this weekend.

Speaking about Onomah, Pochettino said:

“He is a special boy, a special player, because of his talent, his potential and his body. His body is powerful and he has quality in his feet. I don’t know how he will develop.”

“Sometimes you get an instinct about a player but I prefer to keep that inside. Football is always about input and feeling and sometimes you don’t know why but you think this guy can be a top player.”

“Maybe it is about knowledge about football as we have been in football all our life. I think we have a lot of talent here.”

Onomah is one of a number of young players that have been given a chance to impress under Pochettino and will hope to be given the chance to impress again against Newcastle.
