Vardy is urged to stay at Leicester amid interest from Spurs

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has insisted that Jamie Vardy is likely to reject any attempt to sign him from the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham in the January transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Ranieri is confident that Vardy will reject a big money move to a bigger team in January with Liverpool and Tottenham rumoured to be thinking of making bids for the 28-year-old England International, in order to keep his Euro 2016 dreams alive.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ranieri said of Vardy:

“He is intelligent, he knows very well now in Leicester there is a very good group who play together.”

“It is good for him and the other players to show their quality in this team.”

“Then maybe next season they could choose the best solution for them.”

“But it is important to see also where at the end of the season Leicester is.”

“Jamie and his agent said he is very happy here, we want to grow up together – I hope we can continue altogether.”

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to enter the market for a new striker in the January transfer window, with summer signing Clinton N’Jie struggling to adapt to the Premier League, whilst Son has only just returned from injury.

This has meant that Harry Kane has been the only realistic option for Pochettino to use this season and Kane’s England team-mate and Leicester’s top scorer is their preferred option to boost their attacking credentials going into the second half of the season.
