Tottenham interested in Croatian defender

Despite having one of the best defensive records in the Premier League this season, Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in bringing in another defender to White Hart Lane.

According to the Daily Star, Spurs are interested in bringing Croatian defender Domagoj Vida from Ukranian side Dynamo Kiev as backup to Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderwiereld with Eric Dier now considered to be a midfielder after his increasingly successful run in defensive midfield.

With Tottenham scouts rumoured to have watched the Croatian international during Dynamo Kiev’s narrow loss to Chelsea in the Champions League earlier this month, a move could be made in the January transfer window although Dynamo Kiev are expected to hold out until the end of the season.

If Vida is brought to White Hart Lane, it would potentially signal the end of Federico Fazio’s Spurs career as he would then be relegated to 5th choice centre back behind Kevin Wimmer. Fazio, who joined Spurs in 2014, has only played one game this season against Arsenal in the Capital One Cup and would be looking to move on in order to secure first team football.
