Son has Spurs medical

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller says Heung-Ming Son has had a medical ahead of a proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The two teams are believed to have agreed a fee in the region of £18m, and Goal.com report  thatVoller has confirmed a medical has been taken place, but no deal has been struck.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, he said, “There is a request and there is talks but nothing is done. I saw many medicals in this business where there was no deal afterwards.

“We will try to reach an agreement, but only under our conditions.”

Son was left out of Bayer Leveruksen’s squad for their crucial Champions League Play-Off tie with Lazio tonight, but former Germany international Voller claims that his omission is due to illness, rather than because of Tottenham’s interest in the player.

News of a break through in the club’s search for attacking reinforcements will be of relief to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has had a miserable time in his pursuit of West Brom striker Saido Berahino.

Two bids for the England U21 attacker have been turned down by Baggies boss Tony Pulis, and club chairman Jeremy Pearce remains adamant player is not for sale despite a formal transfer request having been made.
