Out-of-favour defender Vlad Chiriches has completed a £4.5m move to Serie A side Napoli.
The 25-year-old had been linked with moves to Fiorentina and Galatasaray, but Spurs have agreed a deal with Gli Azzuri to end an unsuccessful two-year spell at White Hart Lane.
After arriving from Steaua Bucharest for £7m, Chiriches failed to hold down a regular spot in Tim Sherwood nor Mauricio Pochettino’s defence, making just 27 Premier League appearances.
The club were hoping to recoup the majority of what they paid for the Romania captain, but Daniel Levy has now decided to cut his losses and agree a deal with Maurizio Sarri’s side ahead of the start of the new season.
Napoli’s boss has admitted however that he has only seen Chiriches play once – for 45 minutes!
“I know him a little,” Sarri admitted in a press conference.
“I saw half a game six months ago. He seems to have distinct technical qualities but I don’t have a clear impression.”
He is the latest player bought with the Gareth Bale sale money to leave the club this summer following the departures of Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, with major flop Roberto Soldado also heading towards the exit door
