Tottenham will launch a £10m bid for Saido Berahino, but West Brom want at least TWICE that.
The Mirror say that Daniel Levy will finally sanction a bid for the England U21 international within 48 hours, but The Baggies want a figure in the region of £20m-25m.
Mauricio Pochettino remains confident of completing a deal though and is encouraged by the player’s refusal to begin talks over an extension on his current £15k a week deal at The Hawthorns.
Tony Pulis is reported to have been willing to double the player’s wage, but his heart is set on a move to White Hart Lane where he will link up with fellow England international Harry Kane.
Meanwhile, former West Brom manager Alan Irvine has said that he does not believe Berahino is ready for a move to Tottenham.
Despite scoring 14 Premier League goals for the West Midlands club last year, Irvine believes that the 21-year-old is not ready for such a jump between clubs.
“Is he ready to play a huge part at a club like Tottenham who want to be challenging for the top four? Probably not yet,” Irvine said.
“I always said to Saido that as long as he kept focus and did the right thing then he would continue to develop.”
“It’s important that he plays. He’s at the stage of his career where he needs to play regular games. He’s got a talent. His movement is very good.”
