Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have been named in the MLS All-Star Squad to face Tottenham Hotspur next week.
The duo are yet to make their league debuts in the US, but have been included in the 23-man roster that will welcome Mauricio Pochettino’s side men on July 29.
Fellow Champions League winners David Villa and Kaka have also been named in the squad, but there is no place for Andrea Pirlo following his summer move from Juventus to New York City FC.
Former Spurs players Robbie Keane and Clint Dempsey have also made the cut after featuring for the All-Stars in last summer’s 2-1 win over Bayern Munich.
The squad consists of the MLS All-Star XI, which is voted for by fans, as well as ten further players selected by this year’s coach – Colorado Rapids’ Pablo Masteroni.
MLS commissioner Don Garber has also added two further picks of his own – opting to include Gerrard and Lampard after moves to LA Galaxy and New York City FC respectively.
The meeting will see the All-Stars come up against Premier League opposition for the first time since Eddie Johnson’s last minute goal secured a 3-2 win over Chelsea in 2011.
