Tottenham Hotspur are in a spot of bother currently as they remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings.
Despite signing ten new players in the summer transfer window, Roberto De Zerbi’s side have failed to get going and are winless in the competition.
That hasn’t stopped them from identifying players who can improve their squad, though.
Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis has been linked with Tottenham as they scour the market for cover and competition for Antonin Kinsky.
And now, if reports from England are to be believed, Tomas Araujo has emerged as a target for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham want to sign Tomas Araujo
According to a report from TEAMtalk, the Benfica defender has emerged as a target for the club.
However, other clubs such as Newcastle United, Brighton, Chelsea and Manchester United are also in the running for Araujo, who has already been capped by Portugal.
The report also confirms that a January sale is unlikely, with the player valued at around €80m owing to a release clause.
Tottenham don’t really need another central defender at the moment, so we’re not entirely sure if spending €80m on Araujo is a good deal for the club, as good a player as he is.
