‘Potential’ – Roberto De Zerbi believes Tottenham player can win the Ballon d’Or

Mykhaylo Mudryk was a surprise signing for Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day as the Ukrainian joined the club on an initial loan deal.

The Lilywhites can sign him permanently for a fee believed to be in the region of £75m, but all the focus is on getting the exiled attacker back to his best as he prepares to return to competitive football after a lengthy doping ban.

Roberto De Zerbi knows Mudryk quite well due to their respective stints with Shakhtar Donetsk.

And Tottenham fans across the world will absolutely love the Italian’s previous comments on Mudryk.

De Zerbi feels Mudryk can win the Ballon d’Or

“Mudryk can win the Ballon d’Or in the future,” said De Zerbi via talkSPORT.

“I know the value of Mudryk. He has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or.”

Amid his struggles with Chelsea after his big-money move, De Zerbi once again sung Mudryk’s praises, urging him to remain patient to succeed in the Premier League.

“Mudryk is a top player and I think for him, it’s difficult to start in another country, in another team.

“Everyone knows the situation of Chelsea this year, it’s very difficult especially for a young player, for a young guy. But, he has the quality to become a star in the Premier League.”

This is what De Zerbi said in 2022 and it’s safe to say not everything has gone as planned for the Ukrainian.

However, if he gets his head up and delivers the goods for Tottenham, he can well and truly get his faltering career back on track in North London.
