‘I know’ – Roberto De Zerbi reveals reason behind Tottenham’s deadline-day signing

Tottenham signed two players on deadline day as they completed a double deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea.

While the latter signed on a permanent deal as Kevin Danso’s replacement, Mudryk arrives on an initial loan deal with an option to make the deal permanent for £75m.

The Ukrainian hasn’t played a competitive game of football in over two years due to a ban but is looking to get his career back on track under De Zerbi, who he knows quite well due to their previous stints with Shakhtar Donetsk.

And now, the Italian has revealed exactly what Mudryk could bring to Tottenham after his surprise deadline-day move.

Roberto De Zerbi states what Mykhaylo Mudryk will give Tottenham

“Having worked with Misha earlier in his career, I know exactly what he can bring to our team,” said De Zerbi via Tottenham’s official website.

“He has the quality to change a game with his speed and ability in one-vs-one situations, and is an exciting, attacking talent.

“I will demand a lot from Misha and it is our job to help him find the best version of himself.

“If we do that, then he can become a very important player for us. I am very happy he chose to come here, and I cannot wait to work with him again.”

Mudryk catapulted himself to superstardom under De Zerbi and earned himself a big-money move to Chelsea.

It hasn’t worked out for him in the Premier League so far, but there is very clearly a player there waiting to come out of his shell and really express himself.

And who better to do it under than a coach who knows him better than anyone else in world football?
