Tottenham Hotspur are set to appoint a new captain under Roberto De Zerbi for the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Cristian Romero has been heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan and is likely to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
Last season, Micky van de Ven captained the club when the Argentine was unavailable.
And more recently, in a pre-season game against Auckland FC, Archie Gray was given the armband as he led a young side out in New Zealand.
And now, Son Heung-min, who knows a thing or two about the club, has named two players who could get the armband from Romero.
Van de Ven and Maddison tipped for Tottenham captaincy
Earlier this week, we reported on Read Tottenham that James Maddison is set to be named club captain.
And now, Son feels the England international would be a more than worthy candidate, also naming Micky van de Ven as a strong candidate.
“I think there are quite a lot of good candidates, like James Maddison or Micky van de Ven,” said the South Korean international via Shoot for Love’s YouTube channel.
Tottenham have also signed Andy Robertson this summer, who captains the Scottish national team.
And while the experienced left-back isn’t one of the candidates to get the armband straightaway, he will be a valuable addition to the leadership group.
We can’t disagree with Son, as Van de Ven and Maddison are both worthy candidates to take on the responsibility from Romero.
