So far, Roberto De Zerbi has left no stone unturned in the transfer market as Tottenham Hotspur continue to splash the cash.
As many as six new faces have joined the club in the summer transfer window, and the Italian confirmed that they aren’t quite done yet.
They’ve also been busy on the outgoings front, with Luka Vuskovic their biggest sale so far.
However, Cristian Romero is likely to leave Tottenham and is locked in talks to join Inter Milan, so his departure will undoubtedly take centre stage.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Argentine international’s future.
Tottenham locked in talks with Inter Milan for Cristian Romero
Yesterday, Romano confirmed that ‘it’s over’ between Tottenham and Romero as the experienced defender looks to move on to greener pastures.
Earlier this year, Atletico Madrid wanted to snap him up, but somehow, the deal never materialised.
And now, along with Inter Milan, Barcelona also want to sign Romero, but the Catalans are in a precarious financial situation, so they will have to err on the side of caution.
Romano feels the deal to bring Romero to Inter will be an ‘expensive’ one for the Serie A champions, as he provided an update on his X account.
“Understand Inter had initial direct contact with Cristian Romero’s camp.
“Talks taking place on both club and player sides, expensive + not easy but Inter are trying with negotiations ongoing.”
Inter Milan are also in talks to sign Djed Spence, who enjoyed a fantastic 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with England under Thomas Tuchel.
However, Tottenham’s price tag could prove to be prohibitive, especially after the defender’s recent performances.
As things stand, Cristian Chivu’s side are focused on Romero and there is every indication that this is a deal they will get over the line between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
