‘It’s over’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms big Tottenham departure

A lot has been written about Cristian Romero and Tottenham Hotspur in recent days.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he will surely leave the club during the summer transfer window.

Romero has been linked with Inter Milan and Barcelona, while Atletico Madrid wanted to sign him earlier in the season.

Romano’s overnight transfer update, however, appears to suggest that Inter Milan are the favourites to snap up the Argentine defender.

Cristian Romero will leave Tottenham Hotspur

While his destination remains unclear, Romero has already played his last game for Tottenham.

The Lilywhites are set to lose their captain and a key player, but this is something they have prepared for with the additions of Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that it’s ‘over’ between Tottenham and Romero while also elaborating on Barcelona and Inter’s interest.

“I stand by my information – I told you days ago that it’s over between Cuti Romero and Tottenham,” said the Italian transfer guru.

“He’s going to leave in the summer transfer window. They are ready to get him go. Inter remain keen on the move; they are in negotiations.

“Barcelona are interested but only if they sell a defender this summer.”

Tottenham name price tag for Romero

This isn’t a fresh update by any stretch of the imagination, but it does feel like a ‘here we go’ in the sense that Romano confirmed that Romero won’t play for Tottenham again.

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, George Sessions confirmed that Tottenham will hold out for at least £40m to part with the Argentine this summer.

And with Barcelona in a state of financial turmoil and Inter not renowned for paying big transfer fees, it remains to be seen if either of the two sides makes a move for Romero in the coming weeks.
