Tottenham had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against Leeds United in a game that had its fair share of drama and controversy.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now two points above 18th-placed West Ham United, with just two games to go for the Premier League season to end.
Tottenham played well in the first half despite not scoring and went ahead after the interval after a fantastic strike from Mathys Tel.
However, in the 72nd-minute, the Frenchman conceded a penalty, which Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted to get a point for Leeds.
And speaking after the game, Jamie Carragher singled out Tel for criticism for his poor challenge on Ethan Ampadu.
Carragher says Tel cost Tottenham vs Leeds
Tel was lively in the first half and made a big impression in the second with his long-range strike.
However, he was a bit rash on his challenge as he attempted an overhead kick to clear a ball inside the box, which led to him kicking Ampadu in the face and conceding a penalty.

“It’s just a crazy decision from Tel,” began Carragher on Sky Sports.
“What you think sometimes is we’ve been there sometimes as players where you don’t see the opposition player coming in.
“But he’s about to make his decision and he sees him, he looks. So he’s made his decision, but as soon as he knows there’s someone there, it has to change.
“He still has time; he’s got to change his mind. I thought he hadn’t seen him initially, but he has. It’s a really, really poor decision.
“We’re talking about a young attacking player, making two ridiculous decisions in this game.
The Liverpool icon went on to claim that De Zerbi will be absolutely furious with the Frenchman as his poor decision seemingly cost them two points on the night.
That said, Carragher also admitted that the Italian’s man-management skills will really come into play as Tel has actually been a key player for Tottenham in recent weeks.
“De Zerbi will be furious – but he’s got to remember he’s a young attacking player who has actually made a massive difference to Spurs right now.
“He came off the bench at Wolves, got the corner and the winning goal. He set up the second goal at Villa, and he scored the goal tonight.

“He needs him, because they haven’t got players with injuries, but there’s a player there. We’ve seen that in the last couple of games.
“You’d be going nuts, but the good at the other end – everything we showed that was good from Spurs in the first half, and then he scored the goal in the second half.
“That’s the art of management, and De Zerbi knows that a lot better than me.”
