‘Fantastic’ Tottenham player wants to leave and rejoin former club

Share

At a glance:

  • Richarlison linked with a Tottenham exit
  • He could return to Everton
  • Potential Spurs relegation could make the move easier

Tottenham Hotspur appear set to part ways with many of their players this summer, regardless of their Premier League status.

Spurs will have no European football next season, and even their Premier League status isn’t assured yet. They are one point above the drop zone with three games remaining.

Many of their players will leave if the north London side get relegated. However, some of them are also expected to depart even if they stay in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s top scorer Richarlison could return to Everton

Spurs have scored just 45 goals in 35 Premier League games this season, highlighting their struggles in attack. This is due to numerous factors, like Thomas Frank’s setup and an injury crisis.

However, Richarlison is one of the few players to have stood out for them. The Brazilian striker is Tottenham’s top scorer this season with 10 goals and four assists in 29 Premier League games.

He has scored an overhead kick and also a goal from the halfway line this season, displaying his extraordinary ability.

However, according to TeamTalk, Richarlison could return to Everton this summer. His contract with Spurs expires in 2027, so they could look to cash in on him.

He has consistently been linked with a return to the Toffees, and it could come true this summer.

Everton are fighting for a place in the European competitions and are four points behind the Top 6 with three games remaining.

If they qualify, they will need to strengthen their squad, and they have been consistently linked with Richarlison. It would also be a “dream scenario” for him to return.

Richarlison’s potential move to Everton is best for all parties

The 28-year-old scored 53 goals and provided 15 assists in 152 games for the Toffees, playing a key role in their Premier League survival.

He has also never been shy of showing his appreciation for the club, even after joining Spurs in 2022. Hence, it would be a perfect fit for both parties.

Moreover, it would also be a good move for Tottenham, who signed him for £50 million plus £10 million add-ons.

Richarlison has recorded 31 goals and 15 assists in 130 games for Spurs. Ange Postecoglou also labeled him a “fantastic footballer” in 2023 (h/t HITC).

His injuries have been a major issue at Spurs because he has always contributed well whenever he has been able to get a run of games.

The Brazilian international played an important role in their UEFA Europa League last season. He is their top scorer in a season where they could potentially avoid relegation.

If he can help them stay up, Richarlison would also certainly get a cult hero status at the club.

However, Tottenham now need to reinforce their attack with better players. They are unlikely to sell Dominic Solanke, having signed him in 2024, so selling Richarlison would be best for all parties.
