Gabby Agbonlahor makes big prediction on Harry Kane’s Tottenham return

Share
  • Harry Kane enters final year of Bayern Munich contract
  • Striker has been linked with a return to England
  • PSG and Manchester United also interested

Harry Kane has not signed a new deal at Bayern Munich and has been linked with a return to England this summer.

The Tottenham legend will be entering the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena this summer. The 32-year-old has unfinished business in the Premier League and has been heavily linked with a return soon.

The striker had a €65 million release clause in the January 2026 window, but no club activated it as he was not interested in leaving the German side. Manchester United were linked with the Englishman, while a return to Spurs has also been mentioned in the media.

Gabby Agbonlahor comments on Harry Kane rumours

Gabby Agbonlahor was on talkSPORT today, talking about Harry Kane after Bayern Munich were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.

He is unsure why the striker will consider a return to England, as he has better options to explore in his career.

The pundit claimed that Kane is unlikely to retire in Germany, but a move to the United States or Saudi Arabia will be on the cards for him.

However, he does not see why the 32-year-old will leave the Bundesliga champions any time soon, and said:

“Why [would he return to England]? Look at what he’s doing at Bayern Munich; there’s no chance he comes back to the Premier League now. He might not retire in Germany, he could go to Saudi or the States, maybe. But at the moment, he’s enjoying his football, the fans love him, why would you leave?”

Bayern Munich are interested in renewing Kane’s contract, as he remains their main forward. Nicolas Jackson tried to break into the starting XI, but failed to have the same impact as the Englishman after joining on loan from Chelsea.

No Ballon d’Or for Harry Kane, again

Agbonlahor believes that the Ballon d’Or will be on Kane’s mind and that would see him remain at Bayern Munich for another season.

He claims that the Englishman had a fair chance of winning it this year if the German side won the UEFA Champions League and the striker did well at the FIFA World Cup.

“I think he will be [thinking about losing out on the Ballon d’Or], he’s that sort of player. The season that he’s had… I looked at his face after the game and you could tell he was devastated not to get through to the final, but also, that part of it will be in his mind.

“If he’d won the Champions League, the season he’s had, the amount of goals he’s scored, going to the World Cup and doing well, it would have been his.”

German journalist Raphael Honigstein was also on the show and agreed that the striker should be in the race this year.

However, he too believes that it all depends on how well England do at the FIFA World Cup this summer.
