Heung-min Son will be remembered for decades for his contributions to Tottenham Hotspur over the years.
The South Korean left the club after winning the UEFA Europa League as captain, which is a mammoth achievement as he helped break the club’s 17-year trophy drought.
Since his departure, however, things have quickly gone south for Tottenham on and off the pitch.
They are on the cusp of relegation and the squad is in desperate need of fresh blood, although that could be difficult if they drop down to the Championship.
However, plans are being put in place to back Roberto De Zerbi, who has his work cut out for him to make Tottenham competitive again.
And now, if reports are to be believed, the North London outfit are firmly interested in signing Oh Hyeon-gyu, who plies his trade for Besiktas in Turkey.
Oh Hyeon-gyu an under-the-radar pick
Richarlison has been fairly decent for Tottenham this season, but the likes of Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke have flattered to deceive.
The former is set to return to Paris Saint-Germain after the expiry of his loan spell, increasing the need for a striker at Hotspur Way.
Turkiye Gazetesi report that Tottenham are monitoring Oh, who has also emerged on Manchester United’s radar.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form for Besiktas this season and his value could rise if he continues delivering the goods at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Oh’s stats also make for interesting reading.
- 42 games
- 17 goals
- 5 assists
- 0 games missed due to injury
Besiktas signed him from Gent for around £12.2m in January 2026, so interested clubs will have to comfortably eclipse that fee to have any chance of signing the striker.
Tottenham linked with plenty of strikers
Whether or not they remain in the Premier League, Tottenham surely need a striker to provide cover and competition for Solanke and Richarlison next season.
Keisuke Goto has been linked with a move to N17, with the Japanese striker earning rave reviews for his performances in the Belgian Pro League.
Elsewhere, Flaco Lopez has also emerged on Tottenham’s radar, with the striker drawing comparisons with Roberto Firmino for his style of play.
The North London outfit have got their recruitment horribly wrong in recent seasons and can’t really afford to splash the cash on bonafide matchwinners, as they either can’t afford them, or said players wouldn’t be willing to join the club.

Signings such as Oh could help Spurs unearth a rough diamond or two, which is exactly what they need as there are too many gaping holes in the squad.
And if they decide to press ahead with a move for the South Korean, they can always pick up the phone and ask Sonny to put in a good word or two.
