Tottenham Hotspur have endured an eventful time on and off the pitch since the turn of the year.
They are winless in the Premier League in 2026, which led to Thomas Frank’s departure earlier this year.
Igor Tudor has taken over the reigns on an interim basis, but reports from Brazil claim Tottenham actually wanted Palmeiras boss Abel Ferreira before the Croatian’s arrival.
And now, Brazilian sources are at it once again, this time linking the North London outfit with a gifted striker who has made a massive impression in Brasileirao.
Tottenham courting Flaco Lopez
The Palmeiras talent factory is well known in the world of football, having developed and sold the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Vitor Reis, Estevao Willian and Endrick, among others, in recent years.

And now, it looks like another one of their players could be on the move. According to TV Espirito de Porco, Tottenham are chasing Flaco Lopez and want to sign him in the summer transfer window after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Palmeiras own 70% of his rights and value him at around £39m, with clubs such as Fulham, West Ham United, and Atletico Madrid also interested in signing the Argentine international.
The Bobby Firmino comparison
At the age of 25, Lopez has played over 150 games for Palmeiras, scoring 62 goals and notching up 12 assists across all competitions.
Ferreira has coached him since his debut in 2022 and the pair continue to work together successfully. The Brazilian coach previously referred to Lopez as an ‘animal’ to highlight his workrate and doggedness in front of goal.
He said (quotes via FootballFanCast): “The number 9 position is a difficult one. He’s an animal, strong, fast, powerful, a killer.”

Ahead of the Copa Libertadores final against Flamengo last year, Ferreira appeared to criticize El Flaco for serving more as Palmeiras’ playmaker, as opposed to leading the line.
“It’s something I’ll discuss with him personally. What I’m asking for is one thing, and what he’s doing is another. He’s forgotten what he was supposed to be doing,” said the Palmeiras boss via One Football.
“He’s a center forward, not a playmaker. The coach has the tactics, but the decision is the player’s.”
Judging by his manager’s comments, Lopez seems to be more than just an out-and-out goalscorer, sparking comparisons with former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino.
And if Lopez’s career pans out as well as Firmino’s, he’ll be a happy man as the former Liverpool man was a central figure during Jurgen Klopp’s transformative Anfield tenure.
