Marcos Senesi is a household name in the Premier League after his exploits with Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola.
The Argentine defender is set to leave the Cherries at the end of the season, with his contract set to expire then.
Senesi has been linked with a move to Tottenham, while Barcelona, Juventus and other Premier League clubs are also in the running for him.
Recently, we reported that Senesi prefers to move to Spain, which could be a massive blow for Tottenham.
And now, if reports from England are to be believed, the Lilywhites have turned their attention towards another Premier League defender whose contract expires this summer.
Tottenham lurking for Pascal Struijk
Roberto De Zerbi has a lot of work to do in the transfer market to make Tottenham a force to be reckoned with again.
His primary aim, however, will be to avoid relegation as the North London outfit are just a point above West Ham United.
Defensively, a lot of changes are expected this summer, which is why Senesi initially emerged as a target.
And now, with the Argentine looking like he’s heading elsewhere, another name has emerged for Tottenham: Pascal Struijk.
The Dutch defender, currently with Leeds United, could be on the move this summer as his contract expires at the end of the 2026-27 season.
According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa are prepared to make an offer for him, while Tottenham and Newcastle United are lurking in the background.
Unai Emery’s side could offer him European football next season, which is out of the question for Tottenham.
However, it goes without saying that Struijk could be a good option for Tottenham, especially if they get him for a cut-price fee.
Struijk could be a bargain
The 26-year-old has been with Leeds United for the entirety of his senior career, making nearly 200 appearances for the club.
He knows English football inside out and has a lot of experience at the top level, although he is yet to be capped by the Netherlands’ senior side.
Tottenham could need multiple central defenders in the summer as the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been linked with departures, while Luka Vuskovic’s future has yet to be sorted.
Struijk could be a value-for-money buy to add more numbers to their readguard, which would also allow them to splash the cash on a certified game changer at the back to replace Romero, who looks like he already has one foot out of the door.
