Ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino misses England
The Argentine takes charge of USMNT at World Cup
Igor Tudor likely to depart Spurs this week
Tottenham Hotspur are undergoing a disastrous season, to say the least. The Lilywhites are currently sitting in 17th in the Premier League table and are on the verge of relegation if the situation doesn’t improve soon.
Newly appointed manager Igor Tudor is yet to gain the trust of fans, having won just one match since taking charge and, in fact, could be on his way out soon. At a time like this, one can’t help but wonder whether bringing back someone who knows the Spurs inside and out, like Mauricio Pochettino, could help turn things around.
The Argentine tactician is a respected figure at Spurs, having managed the club for five years and successfully led the team to the 2019 Champions League final. However, he was sacked by the board after just a few months owing to a poor start to the 2019–20 season by the Lilywhites.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Premier League Admission
A return to Spurs for Pochettino in the future hasn’t ever been completely ruled out, and the recent comments by the manager will certainly add fuel to the fire.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Pochettino has admitted his love for English football. He stated,
“I love the country, its culture, the football culture. For anyone with a competitive spirit who wants to measure themselves against others and test their abilities, it’s the ideal place.”
He added:
“You have to constantly give your best.”
Mauricio Pochettino Could Be Spurs’ Solution
Pochettino is currently the USA national team manager and the nation are set to host the World Cup in a few months. In case the Argentine decides to return to club management following the competition, there’s a possibility of Spurs being his destination.
However, it is worth noting that being relegated from the Premier League wouldn’t help Spurs’ case for bringing back Pochettino, and the club will have to do everything in its power to prevent that from happening.
🚨 Igor Tudor has informed Tottenham he’s ready to accept a short term deal until June as #THFC interim coach.

Pochettino has managed three different Premier League clubs in his career. His most recent stint was with Chelsea in the 2023–24 season. Although he didn’t win any trophies with the Blues, he set up a strong foundation for the team, and that is exactly what the Lilywhites need at this stage. All that remains to be seen now is whether he returns to North London or pursues his future elsewhere.
