The prospect of relegation is looming large for Tottenham Hotspur with nine Premier League games to go.
They have lost all three games under Igor Tudor and are just a point above the drop zone, with West Ham United and Nottingham Forest making up ground last week.
If Tottenham actually drop down to the Championship, it goes without saying that a handful of their key players will decide to move on.
That could well be the case with Dominic Solanke, who, according to reports from England, is on Newcastle United’s radar.
However, Tottenham’s stance on a potential transfer has emerged as Eddie Howe looks to reunite with the England international.
Tottenham want to keep Solanke
Solanke has scored just five goals this season and has struggled with injuries.
Last season, he was a key asset for Ange Postecoglou, playing an important part in their UEFA Europa League win.
He has been a reliable performer in the Premier League for the best part of the last three seasons, having finally secured a starting spot at Bournemouth after playing bit-part roles for Chelsea and Liverpool.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are keeping a close eye on Solanke’s situation as they prepare to make a move for him in the summer.
The Magpies, for their part, could have to sort out Nick Woltemade and William Osula’s futures, due to which they will be in the market for a striker.
The report also states that Tottenham want to retain Solanke even if they get relegated, which is a sign that he is held in high regard at the club.
Read Tottenham verdict: Solanke stays
We know what you’re thinking. If the unthinkable happens, it would be hard for Tottenham to retain their best players as they simply wouldn’t want to grind it out in the Championship weekly after experiencing the highs of UEFA Champions League football.

However, with Solanke, the situation could be different. He is currently 28 and signed for a fee believed to be in the region of £65m in the summer of 2024, so Spurs will be confident of retaining him as he would still have four years left on his deal.
Maybe some of the non-English players like Destiny Udogie and Mohammed Kudus could look to leave the club in the summer, but Solanke’s staying is surely not beyond the realms of possibility.
