Tottenham transfer news as crucial striker claim emerges

Tottenham Hotspur are rooted to the foot of the Premier League table after a horrific start to the new season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side were expected to kick on after narrowly beating the drop last time out.

They splashed the cash on ten new signings, but most Tottenham fans will agree that they are one quality striker short, especially with Richarlison being frozen out of the project.

And now, despite their obvious struggles in this area of the pitch, reports from England confirm that the Lilywhites have no intention of signing Mauro Icardi.

Tottenham do not want Mauro Icardi

After the transfer window slammed shut, the experienced striker was linked with a surprise move to North London.

Icardi is currently a free agent after his Galatasaray contract expired and has represented some of the world’s biggest clubs.

However, Caught Offside confirm that the Lilywhites have no intention of signing the Argentine international.

Registration issues are part of the rationale behind the snub. Additionally, Tottenham want to devise a plan to sign a proper, younger striker in the upcoming transfer window, so a move for Icardi would only eat up space in their squad.

This is a sensible move as the Argentine is past his best and would command a high wage. At this stage of his career, Tottenham are better off looking elsewhere in January for a striker who can provide cover and competition for Dom Solanke.
